Compiled by Carolyn Wimp (2021). This book contains tax records of Hardin County for the years 1808-1814. Information includes the following: taxpayer’s name; number of acres owned, if any; name of county if in a county other than Hardin; water course the land is on or near; and number of Blacks, if any. Several counties had been carved from Hardin County at this date, but Meade and LaRue Counties were still part of Hardin until 1823 and 1843, respectively. Tax records provide a way to determine when a person moved into the county, when they came of age (21) or when they moved out of the county or died. In some cases, the record states “the son of” or gives an occupation. Every name index. 154 pages, Mylar cover and coil bound.
